Prince Hardaul (Kunwar Hardaul, died 1627) was the younger son of Bundela king Bir Singh Deo of Orchha. According to legend, his elder brother Jujhar Singh suspected Hardaul of having an affair with his queen. To prove his innocence, Hardaul consumed poison and died. After his death, when his sister's daughter was to be married, no one would attend without Hardaul's presence. Miraculously, Hardaul's spirit appeared and blessed the wedding. Since then, Hardaul has been worshipped as a folk deity associated with marriages and family honor. Small shrines dedicated to him are found in villages across Bundelkhand, and his blessings are sought before weddings.
