Legendary Bundela king who liberated Bundelkhand from Mughal rule.
Maharaja Chhatrasal (1649–1731) was a medieval Indian warrior king from the Bundela Rajput clan. Son of Champat Rai, he fought against Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's forces for over 30 years. Inspired by Chhatrapati Shivaji, he established Bundela sovereignty over most of present-day Bundelkhand. He made Panna his capital and patronized arts, music, and literature. The court poet Bhusahan wrote the famous "Chhatra Prakash" in his honor. He is revered as the liberator of Bundelkhand.
