Legendary hockey player from Jhansi, considered the greatest of all time.

Major Dhyan Chand (1905–1979) was born in Allahabad but grew up in Jhansi, Bundelkhand. Widely regarded as the greatest field hockey player of all time, he won three consecutive Olympic gold medals (1928, 1932, 1936) for India. Known as "The Wizard" for his extraordinary ball control, he scored over 400 goals in his international career. His birthday, August 29, is celebrated as National Sports Day in India. A stadium in Jhansi is named after him.
